Teaching Circles

St. Clair College AAT

Reflection by Greg Allen

w/ Pratik Bedi & Shevata Bedi

The opportunity to sit in these classes was very informative. The thing I noticed most was that all students were invested in both classes. At first, I thought some were doing “other things” at their terminals, but looking more closely, they were all engaged in activities in the lesson albeit at different stages and some implementing it into project work in real time. They both BOPPPS adhered to his lesson plan, had time and patience to answer all question and gave individual guidance to several student once presentation phase was complete. The material was straight forward but related back to real word examples by the professor.

  • They spoke clearly, were concise and accurate.

  • They both gave several opportunities for questions and feedback.

  • As an ice breaker there was a short discussion with several students sharing their plans for March Break (w/ Pratir) and their plans for Post Graduation (w/ Shevata).

They were informative, professional and accessible and the material was delivered in a way that I (as anon data guy) could understand yet still seemed to engage even the advance students.

I found this experience to be very useful. It was reaffirming to see how other professors conducted class, delivered content, interacted with students, and encouraged student engagement. They inspired me to do my best.

Both Shevata and Pratik sat in my class together. It was great to have them. They were model students! While I was a bit nervous at first, once the class began things started to flow, the focus was back to teaching and learning. I like to think this helped me prepare for my in class audits by the Char/A.D.
